A WAITER who claimed he was subjected to homophobic comments and racial discrimination while working at a Jersey restaurant has lost his bid to revive his employment tribunal case.
The man, who worked for JP Restaurants for four months in 2025, alleged that his manager made inappropriate comments about his living arrangements and sexuality, behaved aggressively towards him, and that he was later dismissed after raising concerns.
However, the Employment and Discrimination Tribunal refused to reinstate his claims after finding that he repeatedly failed to provide sufficient details of the discrimination allegations, despite being given several opportunities and guidance on how to do so.
The tribunal’s chair, Advocate Dr Elena Moran, said the employer was entitled to know the case it had to meet and concluded that it was not in the interests of justice to allow the claims to continue.
