STATES police are appealing for information after a man was left requiring hospital treatment following an alleged assault over the weekend.

The incident occurred between 3.30am and 4.30am on Saturday 20 June outside Bacchus Bar on La Mottee Street.

According to police, two men assaulted another man by punching and kicking him.

The alleged victim suffered swelling and bruising to his face, nose and body and required hospital treatment.

The two suspects are both described as being around 6ft tall with blonde hair. Police said one spoke with an English accent and the other with an Irish accent.

One of the men is believed to have been shirtless, wearing beige shorts and carrying a black rucksack. The other is believed to have been wearing a white jacket and black shorts.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, saw men matching the descriptions, or has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
