THE replica 17th-century Spanish galleon that recently visited the Island may be charting a course to return next year, one of its crew has revealed – stating “it would be a pleasure” to come back.
Galeón Andalucía was a notable presence alongside the Albert Pier for a number of days last month as part of its wider 2026 tour, with Islanders able to purchase tickets to go aboard.
The replica showcases the type of vessel used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

It is not the first time the historic ship has appeared in the Island, having previously sailed over for the Jersey Boat Show.
Álvaro Paniagua, who joined the crew last year, said the recent visit was “fantastic”.
He added: “We held an incredibly beautiful memory from St Helier and coming again was very exciting.”
Mr Paniagua noted that, while there were not as many visitors as there had been the last time Galeón Andalucía went to Jersey, this was “understandable” given the timing of this year’s visit potentially coinciding with Islanders’ holiday plans.
“Despite that, we have been treated so well and we have felt the love of the people once again,” he continued.
“Probably next year, the Galeón Andalucía will try and sail further north so there is always a chance we can stop around in Jersey.”
Mr Paniagua said it was too soon to know exactly when this would be, but added that “it would be a pleasure to arrive to your shores once again”.
