AN annual charity fundraiser designed to designed to give Islanders an opportunity to remember loved ones is returning this month.
Jersey Hospice Care’s Moonlight Walk invites participants to walk with family and friends while celebrating the lives of those no longer with them, with all proceeds helping to support the charity’s work across the Island.
Walkers can choose between two routes – a 5km Half Moon Walk or the 10km Full Moon Walk. Both routes begin at St Brelade’s Parish Hall at 9pm on Saturday 13 June and finishing back at the venue, where refreshments will be available.
The Moonlight Walk is one of Jersey Hospice Care’s flagship community fundraising events and aims to bring people together to honour memories, share stories and celebrate loved ones.
Marina Brockbank, community engagement officer at Hospice, said: “Our Moonlight Walk is a moment for our community to come together, remember those we love, and shine a light in their honour.
“Every step taken helps us continue providing the compassionate hospice care that families and their loved ones rely on.”
Participants taking part in the 10km Full Moon Walk will follow a longer route along the seafront, while those opting for the 5km Half Moon Walk – which is suitable for all ages – which cut back near Coronation Park.
Volunteer marshals will be stationed along the routes to guide and support walkers throughout the evening.
The event is being sponsored by CSC, which has committed to supporting the initiative for the next three years.
