ISLANDERS are being invited to apply for a UNICEF role which will see them stationed in East Jerusalem.

Jersey Overseas Aid has partnered with the international aid organisation to find a communications officer.

The role is fully-funded and the successful applicant will be employed by UNICEF for two years.

This is the first time JOA has partnered with UNICEF through the junior professional officer programme, which aims to support Islanders seeking to build long-term careers within the humanitarian sector.

The role will focus on communications and advocacy, including developing and implementing strategies, producing press and multimedia materials, and supporting media engagement to raise awareness of UNICEF’s work in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Previous participants from Jersey have gone on to permanent UN roles. Leila Osman, who recently finished her two-year JPO placement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kyiv, said: “Having just completed the two-year JPO programme with UNHCR in Kyiv — where I’m continuing to work — I really can’t recommend the Jersey Overseas Aid JPO programme enough.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for Islanders to get experience working within the UN system and spend two years in a challenging, rewarding, and really interesting humanitarian environment.”

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree, two years of relevant experience and have either been born or live in Jersey.

Applications for the role close at 5pm on Sunday 31 May 2026. More information and how to apply can be found at joa.je/get-involved/jobs/.
