A TENDER process has been launched to secure new service providers for the Channel Islands Lottery at a “pivotal moment” in its 50-year history.

Created in 1975, the CI Lottery is governed and operated jointly between the Government of Jersey and States of Guernsey.

A statement announcing the procurement exercise yesterday explained that the existing supply arrangements will be ending in 2027.

Organisations qualified to deliver lottery services are being invited to put themselves forward, with bids being sought for several “opportunities”.

This includes a search for a provider of “innovative instant lottery printed scratch off ticket games and game-making services”, as well as a pan-island distribution agent and “suppliers of lottery draw or subscription-based game formats”.

Consolidated or joint tenders for a “holistic approach to lottery services” will also be considered.

The statement noted that the existing instant-win ticket format has been in place since 2011 and “will continue to form a core part of the Lottery’s future”.

“However, this will be underpinned by further player protection measures, with a strong focus on responsible play,” it continued.

“The distribution of instant tickets service across both islands is also up for renewal and forms part of this tender opportunity.”

Head of lottery Jon Taylor added: “We are at a pivotal moment in the future direction of the CI Lottery and welcome organisations to consider what format, technology and how best the authority can generate returns for local charities and worthy causes in a responsible way.”
