PERFORMERS have been invited to register their interest in taking part in the 2026 Corn Riots Festival later this year.
In a recent update, organisers said those interested have until Friday 22 May to say they’d like to take part by filling out an online form.
The organisers said the festival “prides itself on providing opportunities” for “grass roots performances” of “any age and performance” that “show case L’esprit Jèrriais”.
The programme will be put together in order to create a “dynamic and engaging programme of entertainment and activities”.
Fresh performance ideas for the stage and areas that would support aspects of culture and tradition, identity, historical and thematic relevance and a sense of pride are welcome.
These, for example, could include music, dance, drama, poetry, comedy, circus skills, variety acts, puppetry, characters and magic.
The festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September starting at noon and ending at 9pm on the first day and 8pm on the second.
It will be held in the Royal Square in St Helier with a stage and technical support provided, but it also welcomes acts that use ground level and interactive theatre or similar.
The event marks the anniversary of the major legislative reform when, in 1769, 500 Islanders stormed the Royal Court in protest against the price of wheat.
