YOUNG Islanders are being invited to help shape a major new youth centre, as construction officially gets underway on the former Ann Street Brewery site.

The five-storey facility, designed with input from local young people, will include a rooftop pitch, climbing wall, sports hall, dance studio and wellbeing spaces. It is due to fully open in summer 2028, with the Youth Enquiry Service moving in next year.

Now, organisers are looking for ‘youth ambassadors’ to play a key role in the next phase of the project, helping design the centre’s interior and ensuring it reflects what young people want.

Mark Capern, associate director of children and young people, said: “The voices of young people have already helped get us to where we are today and we’re not done yet.

“This new centre is being shaped around what they have asked for, ensuring it becomes a space where all young people can feel welcome, supported, and inspired.”

A public pop-up event will be held at Millennium Town Park on Friday 10 April for those interested in learning more about the project.
