THE launch date for Bergerac’s second series has been revealed as Jersey’s most famous detective takes on his next big case.
Just a few days after stars of the show – including lead actor Damien Molony – gathered at Jersey Opera House for a premiere screening, those behind the revamped detective drama have confirmed it will return to U and U&DRAMA on 16 April.
Building on the events of the debut season, which drew more than 2.4 million viewers last year, UKTV have said the latest instalment will see Jim Bergerac face “the most challenging case of his career” when the groom at a wedding reception is found murdered in his hotel room.
Executive producer Brian Constantine said: “Following the announcement from U and U&DRAMA that Bergerac will air on 16 April, we’re incredibly excited for audiences to finally see what we’ve been working on.”
He added: “If the response from the audience at the Jersey premiere is anything to go by, Islanders are in for a real treat – there’s more mystery, more intrigue, and even more of Jersey at the heart of it all.”
Produced by BlackLight TV – part of Banijay UK – in collaboration with Westward Studios and with support from Visit Jersey, the U&Original drama offers a “contemporary twist” on the classic Bergerac created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.
