SEVERAL guinea pigs were on the loose near a scenic spot this morning, and while some have been rescued, three are yet to be found.

The JSPCA received a call to say that “some” of the small four-legged creatures had escaped near the Devil’s Hole in St Mary.

The organisation sent an ambulance driver, along with two colleagues to assess the situation, who discovered there were, in fact, a total of six.

But despite their best efforts, crawling around on their hands and knees through the bushes and shrubbery, they only managed to rescue three.

Islanders who find one any of the creatures are being advised to contact the animal emergencies ambulance at 07797 720331.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We don’t know why they are there and we don’t want to speculate.

“We ask that anyone who knows any information to get in touch with us as we would like to find the owner as soon as possible.”
