A 36-YEAR OLD female who was arrested on Saturday morning following an alleged racial incident outside Jersey’s Islamic Centre on Friday has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, three counts of Common Assault and Threats to Kill.
The woman, who had been remanded in custody, has been warned to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 1 April.
On Friday, a 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in relation to a “racially motivated incident” outside the centre in Aquila Road at around 2 pm that day.
He is also due to appear in court on 1 April.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information that could help the investigation, to contact the police headquarters on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The police has said that its Community Safety Team continues to support members of the Muslim community connected to Jersey’s Islamic Centre, and ‘reassurance patrols’ will be carried out for the remainder of Ramadan, which ends a week on Thursday.
