A 31-year-old man has been flown to hospital in Southampton with a serious leg injury after falling off his motorbike in Grouville early on Saturday morning.

The accident, which only involved a black Yamaha XJR1300, happened on Le Vier Mont, where Longueville Road meets Rue à Don at around 5 am.

The rider was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to the Hospital. His condition is stable but he was urgently flown to the mainland because of the seriousness of the leg injury.

Police, Ambulance and Fire Service were all involved. The roads were all closed until about 11:05 am to allow crash investigations to take place. The main roads are now open, but Le Vier Mont remains closed.

The motorbike was believed to have been travelling eastbound on Longueville Road towards Grouville Hill.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the bike before the collision, seen or heard the collision itself, or have dash camera or CCTV footage in the moments before and afterwards.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
