JERSEY War Tunnels has announced plans for a new exhibition space and improvements to its visitor facilities, with neighbours invited to learn more at a pair of community information evenings this week.

The draft proposals include the creation of a new exhibition area within the main car park, forming an extension to the existing Visitor Centre.

The additional space would provide suitable environmental conditions to display historically significant artefacts that cannot currently be shown inside the tunnels.

The scheme also outlines changes to improve pedestrian safety and vehicle access, including a reconfiguration of the existing car parks.

Residents are being encouraged to attend the sessions to view the drawings, speak with members of the Jersey War Tunnels and design teams, and share their feedback.

The events will take place at the Visitor Centre Café on Monday 2 March and Tuesday 3 March, from 6pm to 7.30pm. The first-floor venue is accessible by lift.

These two information evenings form part of the early design process, ahead of any formal planning application.

Organisers said they look forward to welcoming members of the community and hearing their views on the proposals.
