FUNDING has been requested to move forward with feasibility studies into the redevelopment of sports facilities at Les Quennevais, the Infrastructure Minister has confirmed.

Constable Andy Jehan said that while initial scoping work has been completed, no money has yet been allocated within the 2026–2029 Capital Programme for the project.

He said that the Island’s commitment to host the 2035 Island Games is a “significant driver for renewed investment in sport”, alongside the need to modernise facilities for the public.

“It is essential that adequate time and budget are built into the programme to ensure that any replacement or refurbished facilities can be delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner,” said Mr Jehan.

The minister was responding to a written question from Deputy Jonathan Renouf.

“I have recently requested that funding be made available to progress feasibility studies,” said Mr Jehan. He added that these studies would allow the government to refine “initial high level cost estimates and project timelines” and support decisions on design and the overall mix of sporting facilities.

The minister also confirmed that competitive cricket “has been played, and will continue to be played, at Les Quennevais for the foreseeable future”.
