Jersey Airport

HUNDREDS of Islanders endured a disrupted conclusion to their half-term breaks as fog caused delays and cancellations to many flights.

Visibility at Jersey Airport was below the safe limit for landing for several hours, prompting the cancellation of three easyJet flights – two from London Gatwick and one from Manchester – due to arrive between 7pm and 8pm on Sunday.

Passengers were forced to scramble for overnight accommodation after returning to their departure airport. The Manchester flight was rescheduled to depart at 6am today, with an additional Gatwick service put on at 6.45pm.

The disruption had a knock-on effect for those with plans to leave Jersey today, with the 7am departure to Gatwick delayed by approximately four hours.

There was better luck for those heading back to the Island with British Airways. The Gatwick service due to arrive at 7.55pm on Sunday eventually landed in Jersey at 9.33pm, while an incoming flight from London Heathrow landed around half an hour late at 8.47pm.
