THE Hospice Half-Marathon has sold out for the second year in a row – with runners from as far away as Switzerland set to take part.

Nearly 1,000 individuals are due to take to the roads between the Hospice Shop West in St Ouen and Jersey Hospice Care on Mont Cochon on Sunday 22 March.

The two-person relay has also sold out, but there are a few places left in the four-person relay.

Race director Loraine Fulton said: “I’m so proud of how much this event has grown and the support of everyone involved.

“This year, we’re welcoming runners from as far away as Switzerland, and the course record of 1:13.37 will be fiercely contested by our faster runners.”

Last year’s half-marathon raised more than £60,000 to support the range of services provided by Jersey Hospice Care, from palliative care to bereavement support – which costs £18,000 per day.

EY, professional services firm, is supporting the race for the fourth time.

EY partner Francis Malaspina, who will be starting the race, said: “Every year, the event has gained momentum, and we’ve seen records broken annually for the number of sign-ups, so it’s fantastic to see this year’s event sell out quicker than ever.

“Seeing so many people sign-up and take on the personal challenge to help raise vital funds for Hospice and all the incredible work they do is amazing.

“We look forward to cheering all the runners over the finish line and welcoming them to the EY Race Village.

“If you haven’t signed up yet and want to be a part of the day, there are still a few spaces left to get some colleagues together and enter the four-person relay event, and you’ll even have the chance to win the EY Corporate Cup.”

Tea, cake, and music will be on offer at the finish line, where spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy the event and celebrate all the runners as they cross the finish line.

Those wishing to wait at the finish line at Jersey Hospice Care are asked to park at St Andrew’s Park and use the free shuttle bus up to the finish.

Runners are asked to ensure they read the essential information guides emailed to them.

Anyone who is no longer able to make the event is asked to email lorainefulton@jerseyhospicecare.com so their race number can be reallocated before registration formally closes tomorrow.
