JERSEY Zoo has launched a discounted ticket scheme for Islanders on income support.
The initiative, which aims to remove the cost barrier to visiting the zoo, offers a £6 ticket for those who can provide proof of actively recieving the benefit.
It follows several other leading zoos across the UK – including London Zoo, Edinburgh Zoo and Chester Zoo – which have successfully introduced similar tickets to ensure their sites remain inclusive to all members of the community.
Tickets are available to purchase online only, following feedback from several organisations with similar schemes, who noted that customers preferred the privacy and convenience of ordering tickets in advance.
Head of retail and visitor experience Terry Woodhouse said: “We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy a fantastic day out at Jersey Zoo, reconnect with nature, learn about Durrell, and support us in our mission of saving species from extinction.
“Our newly introduced income support ticket, developed in collaboration with local services and inspired by successful models across the UK, will go a long way in helping make the zoo more accessible to Islanders.”
