THE Rotary Club of Jersey’s annual student cooking competition is to return later this month.

The competition will kick off on Saturday 31 January at Highlands College and see 12 students cook a two-course meal for two people in two hours costing no more than £18.

The winner will travel to Southampton in February to compete in the district final.

In 2025, local student Rubie Le Masurier won both the district and regional competitions and competed against seven other national finalists narrowed down from over 5,000 entrants.

One of the judges this year, Emma Presig, is a previous winner of the event, having emerged victorious 12 years ago in the second annual competition. She went on to receive a First in Culinary Arts Management after leaving school, during which time she worked at The Atlantic Hotel in Jersey, where she remained for three years after her degree.

She has since moved to Michelin-starred Les Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and last year won a prestigious award as a young chocolatier.

The other judges are Andrew Baird from Longueville Manor and David Cameron from The Randall’s group.
