THE tenants of the Havre des Pas Lido were due to hand in the keys to the venue after being formally evicted from the site.

After a hearing on Wednesday 7 January, the Petty Debts Court terminated the tenancy of The Lido (Havre de Pas) Limited and evicted them from the site.

The site, which has been the subject of a long-running tender dispute, has been operated the Lido Ltd since 2015. The business, which is part of the BeServed Group, has been renting the Havre des Pas premises from the government-owned Jersey Property Holdings.

A notice was served on the business in October 2025, which required the vacation of the premises and the removal of all fixtures and fittings, by Christmas Day, with subsequent court papers served on 29 December, which required court attendance on 7 January “in relation to a request for formal eviction” when this did not happen.

Marcus Calvani, of the BeServed Group, claimed he had not had time to move out of the building before the Christmas Day deadline because he had been in negotiations to sell his fittings until 23 December.

A spokesperson for the Infrastructure Department said they “welcomed” the Petty Debts Court’s decision.

“It is deeply regrettable that the public has had to resort to legal proceedings to enforce its rights,” they said.

“This situation was entirely avoidable. The Lido (Havre de Pas) Limited could and should have returned the keys and given vacant possession as required. Despite repeated requests and opportunities, this did not happen.

“The public’s priority is to ensure that its property is recovered so that a new lease can be agreed in the best interests of the community. To that end, the expressions of interest process for a future operator of the site remains ongoing in accordance with the Statement made in the States Assembly on 12 December 2025 by the Infrastructure Minister.”
