THE Jersey Evening Post has announced changes to its publication and delivery schedule as Storm Goretti bears down on the Island, with violent winds forecast overnight.
The decision has been taken to prioritise the safety of printing and delivery teams during the most severe phase of the storm, while also ensuring readers receive the most up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of events as they unfold.
Storm Goretti is forecast to bring force 10 winds to Jersey this evening, with gusts of more than 90mph possible, alongside very rough seas and a significant storm surge coinciding with a late-evening high tide. Islanders have been advised to stay indoors during the worst conditions and to avoid the coast.

JEP LIVE: Island hit by biggest storm since Ciarán with winds of more than 90mph
STORM Goretti is threatening to batter the Island with gusts of up to 90mph tonight. Follow our live blog for updates as Jersey goes through what’s due to be the most severe weather event since Storm Ciarán.
As a result, the JEP will not go to print overnight. Instead, Friday’s hard-copy edition will be printed in the morning and will be available in shops from lunchtime onwards. The digital edition will be published online several hours earlier.
Home deliveries will regrettably not be possible on Friday, but affected subscribers will receive their Friday edition alongside Saturday’s paper the following day.
Editor and chief executive James Filleul said the changes were necessary both for safety reasons and to allow the newspaper to respond properly to a fast-moving weather situation.
“The incoming Storm Goretti means we have had to make some changes to the publication of the JEP both to help the printing and delivery teams get to and from work as safely as possible, and also to make sure we can give readers the most comprehensive coverage,” he said.
“That means the hard copy edition of Friday’s JEP will be available in shops from lunchtime onwards, with the digital edition being published online several hours before that.
“Regretfully, home deliveries are not going to be possible tomorrow, but customers will receive their Friday edition with Saturday’s copy, the following day.
“Clearly at this stage it is difficult to know how the storm will play out; but whatever happens the JEP will still be there in print, and online, to make sure islanders are well informed.”
Readers are encouraged to follow the JEP’s live blog and social media channels for live updates throughout the storm.
