THE Central Market is set to get two new occupants early next year.
Jenca Music School and Bean Around the World will be opening in the market – each getting a lease beginning on 1 Febuary.
The first unit, given to Martyn Cast of Jenca Music School, will house a “speciality retail store” selling musical instruments and merchandise.
Several businesses were invited to present plans to representatives from Jersey Property Holdings and the government after the unit became available.
According to the Land Transactions Order, the retail space will offer “a differentiation from existing market offerings and is expected to enhance the diversity and vibrancy of the Central Market”.
The Jenca shop will sit in unit 102, opposite Dough.
Meanwhile, popular coffee shop Bean Around the World successfully applied for a unit in the market following presentations from several businesses, the report said.
The business plans to open an ”artisan coffee roastery” selling high quality tea blends alongside other products. This will complement the long-established coffee shop on Halkett Place.
The new operation will open in Units 73-74 & 80, adjacent to La Bottega, facing Specsavers.
Both leases will last nine years.
David Stokes, managing director of Bean Around the World, said: “We’re excited at the news that we have been granted ministerial approval to bring our new eco-friendly electric coffee roaster to the Central Market.
“We started roasting coffee in 1996 when we first opened so it will be great to be able to showcase what we do right in front of the public.
“We will be focusing on the coffee roasting and a retail shop. Of course we will be serving a range of our drinks too.”
