A WELL-KNOWN farm shop in St Brelade has an extra reason to celebrate over the festive period after recently receiving planning permission to expand – helping it to continue its journey to becoming a ‘community hub’ for local produce.
The wooden cabin in a field off Rue des Genets, surrounded by fields of pigs, will now expand to the east and west, increasing its footprint by a third.

The ‘Me & The Farmer’ shop is run by the Hackett family, whose Brooklands Farm is nearby.
Katy Hackett said that the expansion, along with a recent successful licence application to sell alcohol, would allow Islanders to buy a wide variety of products made in Jersey, from her family’s own pork, beef, pies and rolls to fresh fruit and veg, cocktails, smoked salmon and fresh bread.
Suppliers include Stinky Bay Brewing Co, Hammer + Dash Cocktails, Three Oaks Vineries, Anneville Farm, Lomah Farm, Mykes’ mushrooms, Dandy, Didier and Christine Hellio, Blanc Pignon Dairy Farm, Jersey Dairy, Dragon Sauce, The Chilli Kitchen, Nick Faulkner Honey, Jersey Sea Salt, Happy Hens, Sea Level Distillery, Jersey Jacks, The Smokey Shed, and Binney & Border.
Katy said: “We want to be a destination for anyone who wants produce that has been grown, reared or made with passion in Jersey. There is no reason why a Jersey Christmas shouldn’t be full of homegrown taste and talent too.”
