The Jersey Heart Team has announced the appointment of a new digital research and innovation fellow.

Cambridge graduate Jack Devin will be taking on the new role, which has been funded and supported by the Jersey Heart Support Group – a local charity committed to improving cardiac care in Jersey.

The position forms part of a wider team that provides cardiovascular services for the Island, integrating clinical care, research, education and digital innovation.

Mr Devin will be working across clinical, research, and digital programmes to explore how modern technologies can transform everyday heart care in Jersey.

His focus will include innovative research into heart failure, improving patient experiences, and leveraging data and digital tools to make healthcare services more proactive and efficient.

The fellowship aims to support the Jersey Heart Team’s broader mission to advance research, digital health, and data-driven approaches in clinical practice, positioning Jersey as a leader in cardiovascular innovation.

As part of his role, Mr Devin will lead clinical trials on heart failure, assess the potential of wearable technologies to predict heart failure decompensation, and investigate local barriers to outpatient attendance, aiming to reduce missed appointments and improve access to care.

Dr Andrew RJ Mitchell, consultant cardiologist and clinical lead of the Jersey Heart Team, shared his views on the new appointment, saying: “Jack’s enthusiasm for research and technology will be invaluable to us.

“We are grateful to the Jersey Heart Support Group for making this role possible.”

Mandi Corley Harris, chair of the JHSG added: “We are thrilled to support the Heart Team and are confident Jack will be a fantastic addition.”
