MORE than £75,000 pounds was raised in the return of an annual charity auction to support Islanders in need this Christmas.

More than 200 unique and luxury lots went under the hammer in the 2025 Jersey Christmas Appeal Charity Auction.

The event’s conclusion was broadcast live on Channel 103 on Sunday.

Some star items went for large sums, including a helicopter flight for £982, a week’s stay in a ski trip for £3,300, the chance to be included in a Peter James novel for £5,500 and a lunch with the Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham for £625.

Several other experiences usually closed to the public were also sold including a tour of the underground wastewater cavern beneath Fort Regent for £180, the Bellozanne sewage treatment works for £176, the La Collette energy-from-waste plant for £140 and the Jersey Post sorting office for £91.

Sports lessons, family outings, memorabilia, craft workshops, overnight stays and food hampers were also up for bidding. The total raised from the auction alone was £55,817.

The appeal raises funds each year to support households who require help with food, heating and essential costs over the Christmas period.

A second fundraising initiative also concluded on Sunday. The ‘Pledge a Wedge’ scheme invited Islanders to buy tickets for a surprise holiday to an unknown destination.

This year, the ‘Pledge a Wedge’ scheme raised £19,000, meaning the appeal total surpassed the 2024 total of £62,000.
