THE Royal Square will once again become a hub of community spirit tomorrow as Islanders gather for the Shelter Trust’s 27th annual Soup Kitchen.
The event, which is sponsored by LGT Wealth Management, will run from 10:30am and continue “until the soup runs out”.
Local hotels, cafés, restaurants and community groups have all donated soups for the occasion, each coming with their own special recipe which will be accompanied by fresh bread provided by local bakeries.
From family favourites to seasonal specials, this year’s fundraiser will offer islanders a choice of 41 soups, with organisers describing the menu as having “something for everyone”.
Businesses and large groups wishing to place orders are encouraged to check the menu in advance and complete an order form available on the Shelter Trust’s website.
This year, the minimum donation is £3, with all the proceeds going directly to the charity.
Over the past 26 years, since the event began, it has raised more than £270,000 to support Islanders affected by homelessness.
The charity provides emergency accommodation, day services, support for young people and resettlement programmes for around 100 people per day, with a current focus on prevention.
Both the full soup menu and order form are available to view on Shelter’s website here.
