Jersey Wanderers, which has received funding from the Round 2 awards.

SEVENTEEN sports groups have received funding from a grant scheme established in memory of one of Jersey’s well-known dance teachers.

Jersey Sport’s Supportin Sport Fund – launched last year and made possible by a legacy from the late Valerie Todd, known to many as Miss Guy – aims to reduce barriers to participation, develop volunteers and coaches, and improve facilities across the Island.

The organisation said they have allocated £45,000 through the latest round of funding, which brings the total investment in local sport to £179,000 for 2025.

Successful applicants include swimming, athletics and football groups to disability sport, women’s running initiatives and martial arts clubs.

Jon Le Fondre, Jersey Sport’s Grant and Sport Development Officer, said: “The high standard of applications demonstrates the passion and dedication of Jersey’s sport organisations, all working hard to widen participation and deliver safe, inclusive and enjoyable experiences for Islanders of all ages.”
