JERSEY and Guernsey’s Chief Ministers met Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday.

Deputies Lyndon Farnham and Lindsay de Sausmarez attended the 44th British-Irish Council Summit in Wales alongside political leaders from the UK, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and Guernsey.

A spokesperson for the Government of Jersey said Deputy Farnham had “useful” conversations with Sir Keir on a “number of key issues” affecting the Island.

These included the “UK-EU Reset, cost of living pressures and infrastructure projects”, the spokesperson said, adding: “It was also an opportunity to reiterate Jersey’s support for the UK government’s continuing work to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and Gaza.”

Sir Keir was among those to have contributed a lot to the annual Jersey Christmas Appeal Charity Auction.
