BRIGHT SUNSHINE lit up Simon Sand on Sunday, but a chill in the air reminded riders that winter cyclocross is never easy.
Round 3 of the Jersey Cycling Cyclocross Series brought deep sand, soft ruts, and punishing climbs, turning the course into a true test of strength, skill, and endurance.
Every lap demanded power, balance, and careful handling—one small mistake could mean losing momentum in the unforgiving terrain.
The Open Senior race set the tone for an exciting day.
Series leader Jay Cracknell stormed into an early lead, slicing through the sandy sections with speed and confidence. Cracknell appeared in full control, until lap five, when a puncture forced a quick wheel change.

That moment handed the advantage to Ben Richards, who took over at the front. Cracknell refused to give in, battling back through the field but couldn’t catch the flying Richards who took the win with Cracknell claiming second place, while Liam Cadoret rounded out the podium.
Dillon Catney and Rhys Hidrio completed the top five, riding strongly across the demanding course.
In the V40 race, Adam Wojtkiewicz rode with his usual poise, gliding through the soft sand and technical sections to claim the win. Tim Norman and Allan Sults followed closely, showing steady pace and control over the punishing surface.
Meanwhile, Krzysztof Jeromkin dominated the V50 field, handling the heavy sand supremely, with Ian Jones and Jamie Griffiths completing the podium.
The Ladies race produced its own thrills.
Harley Cadoret who has had a great start to the season continued that form to set a strong pace from the start, navigating the sandy climbs and tight corners with confidence. Her smooth lines and steady momentum allowed her to pull clear of the chasing pack.
Katie Tanguy rode a composed, controlled race to finish second, while Amanda Wright and Emma Youinou battled through the technical sections to complete the top four.
In the V60 category, Mike Osborne maintained a steady pace and strong technique to take the win, with Liam Catney finishing second.
In the Youth race, Lia Romero completed her first ride on the tough Simon Sand course, handling the sand and technical features with confidence to claim victory.
Round 4 of the series will take place on Sunday 28 December at Les Quennevais. Follow @CXJersey on Instagram for full event details and sign-up instructions.
The organisers would like to thank the marshals, officials, and Normandy Rescue for ensuring the day ran smoothly, as well as Jersey Cycling, Group Legendre, and Simon Sand for making the event possible.
