THE CHANNEL Islands Coop has donated nearly £10,000 to a charity that supports Islanders with learning disabilities.

The supermarket chain teamed up with Les Amis during the charity’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

To fundraise in support of their efforts, CI Coop sold branded bags for life and limited-edition ice cream which Jersey Dairy helped produce.

Launched through a flavour competition, the winning entry, “Peachy Beachy” was stocked on Coop shelves in June.

To date, the partnership has raised more than £9,300 for Les Amis which cares for around 100 adult Islanders with learning challenges and complex needs.

Shaun Findlay, managing director of the charity, said they are “incredibly grateful” to CI Coop for their “creative and generous fundraising efforts”.

“They’ve helped raise vital funds that support our work with around 100 adult Islanders at any one time,” he said.

“Their fundraising efforts have not only raised essential funds but also helped raise awareness of our mission in a fun and engaging way.”

Mark Cox, chief executive of CI Coop added: “At the Channel Islands Coop, we believe in supporting initiatives that make a meaningful difference in our community, and Les Amis does just that, empowering Islanders with learning disabilities to live full and independent lives.”

“I hope that our [dedicated products] not only raised vital funds but also helped shine a light on the incredible work Les Amis does every day.”

Mr Cox added: “It’s a partnership rooted in shared values, and we’re honoured to play a part in their journey.”
