THE number of Jersey students applying for grant to attend university fell to a five-year low in the 2024/25 academic term.

440 students received funding, totalling £4.4m, according to new figures provided under the Freedom of Information Law.

Over the past five academic years, just under £24m has been spent on first-year students.

The highest level was in 2021/22 when 474 students claimed £5.06m. Funding figures are not yet available for the current academic term.
