COLLABORATIVE work between rival Channel Islands hasn’t always worked out, but hopes are high that a Christmas single may buck the trend.
Jersey-based music teacher Adam Reece and singer Emily Fern, from Guernsey, co-wrote the track Christmas Dream and recorded it at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
Initially a small project, the venture grew in scale to the extent that the cast included the London Symphony Orchestra, synth player Phil Hartnoll and Bez from Happy Mondays.
The track was released on 4 November and has already attracted thousands of views, with hopes that it may gain momentum and climb up the charts during the run-up to the festive season.
Mr Reece, who teaches piano, musical production and songwriting at the Jersey School of Popular Music, said: “It became a huge project – there were anxious moments waiting for confirmation and navigating the logistics, but piece by piece, it all fell into place.
“What began as a happy accident has grown into something larger than we ever imagined.”
Bez, who plays the maracas and triangle added: “I really enjoyed going back to Abbey Road to record ‘Christmas Dream’ – it’s a beautiful song for the times we live in, spreading peace and love around the world, and I hope everyone gets behind it!”
