THE police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault in St Helier last weekend.

The incident took place between 11.35pm and 11.50pm on Sunday 26 October near the junction of Poonah Road and Aquila Road.

Officers said a 54-year-old man was walking towards his home when he was assaulted by an unknown man following a spontaneous argument between them.

The victim suffered a cut to his forehead which required stitches at the hospital.
