JERSEY’s only tree-focused charity is now fully-equipped to look after the island’s countryside following a donation of battery-powered tools.
Jersey Electricity, which has an ongoing partnership with Jersey Trees for Life, recently provided three cordless STIHL Kombi Engines – described as low-emission, versatile tools designed to reduce carbon output and noise pollution.
The new equipment comes with attachments including strimmers, brush cutters, hedge cutters, chainsaws, rotary cutting heads, brushes, and backpack systems.
Alex Morel, CEO of Jersey Trees for Life, said: “The nature of our work means we’re reliant on the quality of our equipment, so of course we’re delighted to have received funding for these top-quality tools. We’re grateful to Jersey Electricity for its generosity and ongoing support in helping us to create a greener, healthier future for Jersey.”
James King, Solar Projects Officer at Jersey Electricity, added: “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to protecting and sensitively maintaining the natural landscapes around our projects.”
This donation is part of Jersey Electricity’s ‘100 Projects That Matter’ community impact programme. So far, this initiative has also included supporting Dementia carers, organising a Grands Vaux summer school, and powering the Samaritans offices with electricity.
