A PUBLIC meeting for St Saviour parishioners is set to take place in early December where the parish will outline its plans to develop two fields into a park.
St Saviour Constable Kevin Lewis confirmed a meeting is set to take place on Tuesday 2 December at the Parish Hall at 6.30pm for the parish to present its final ideas.
He explained that plans, although currently in the “fine-tuning stage”, include the transformation of two fields directly behind the Parish Hall for the creation of a dedicated public park with children’s playground, a café and landscaped gardens.
The parish, which has yet to officially lodge its ideas to the Planning Department, will also seek to improve pavements along Patier Road, increase access to Birches Avenue and install a zebra crossing from the Parish Hall to the church.
Additional parking provision for the Parish Hall and church to facilitate events will also form part of the development, if approved in concept by parishioners and later by Planning officials.
St Saviour held a public consultation on the move concerning fields S514 and S515 earlier this year – after the parish had purchased them.
The scheme aims to reflect similar enhancements delivered in St Martin’s Village in terms of bolstering multi-purpose community facilities, boosting public green spaces and improving neighbourhood connectivity.
The December meeting will represent the final stages of the long-running plans before they are taken into the development stage.
The 2021 Census by Statistics Jersey revealed that St Saviour had a population of 13,904, equating to 13% of the Island’s headcount.
