A NEW operator is to be appointed to run the Havre des Pas Bathing Pool after a tender process.

Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan will sign a ministerial order later today confirming the intention to appoint First Point as the new operator.

First Point Property Services – which specialises in events and property management, and is currently involved in the running of La Frégate – will take over the Havre Des Pas café, pool, showers and toilets rent-free, and with £66,000 from government every year to maintain the historic swimming facility.

The government said that the current occupier of the Lido did not participate directly in the selection process and has a licence to operate until 25 December 2025. They have been given notice of the need to vacate the premises by this date. The new lease with First Point will commence on 1st January 2026.

Under States Assembly rules, Mr Jehan is required to give a notice period to the States Assembly of 15 working days before the lease with First Point can be signed. A lease will not be signed until a States debate on Deputy David Warr’s proposition –  which calls for the lease to be given to the Love Our Lido group give it £170,000 annual funding – has taken place.

The tender process was guided by an independent panel made up of Deputy Inna Gardiner, Home Affairs Minister Mary Le Hegarat and the Property Director of a local retail company.

Mr Jehan said: “This agreement, following a thorough process, gives the Lido the fresh start that everyone has recognised is needed. I’m grateful to all parties who participated in the expressions of interest process and look forward to working constructively with First Point.”
