HOW prepared are Jersey organisations to face up to cyber-attacks like those that have affected Marks and Spencer, Heathrow Airport and more in recent months?

Ten businesses will be selected to undergo a “Cyber Health Check” – an initiative launched by Jersey Cyber Security Centre in an effort to make the Island more resilient in the face of threats.

The health check is a first step in assessing whether an organisation can take the Cyber Essentials assessment, a UK government-backed programme that includes free insurance.

The ten chosen organisations will take part in three steps of the Cyber Health Check: a survey, a report from the JCSC, and a rating.

The process is designed to look at both technical aspects of cybersecurity, but also practical ones like how people lock their devices and what type of passwords they use.

JCSC director Matt Palmer said: “We want to make sure that more organisations have the knowledge and support to improve their cyber security posture and Cyber Health Check is designed to bridge this gap.”

To apply, organisations must have received a government grant in 2024 or be listed as an arm’s length body.

With limited spaces, Mr Palmer said anyone interested should contact the JCSC before Friday 7 November by emailing hello@jcsc.je or calling 500050.
