PLANS have been submitted to develop 30 new “affordable” properties on a St Martin field.
The site, a former green zone off La Rue des Buttes next to the Catholic Church, was rezoned for affordable housing in 2022 under the Bridging Island Plan – the framework that guides all planning decisions.
Developer Dandara is proposing to build 12 two- and 18 three-bedroom homes, which they describe as “family” and “right-sizing” units.
Each property would have a private garden, cycle storage and one parking space.
According to planning documents prepared by architects MS Planning, the scheme aims to address “the Island’s immediate housing need” and has been designed to remain in keeping with the “rural character” of the area.
As part of Jersey’s Percentage for Art policy – which requires developers to contribute around 1% of construction costs toward public art – around £30,000 will go toward creating a 108m woodland walk along the western boundary of the site.
