A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD will be completing the Jersey Marathon Mile to raise money for a suicide prevention charity in memory of a family friend.
THE Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon is due to take place held on Sunday 5 October, and will include a one-mile race.
Among those taking part is seven-year-old Charlie Reed, who is running to raise funds for men’s suicide prevention charity, Andy’s Man Club.
The charity aims to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and embrace the power of conversation.
Charlie has already raised more than £1,000 for the charity, in memory of a family friend, James Campbell, who died suddenly.
Charlene Moullin, Charlie’s mother, said: “As a family we are so proud of Charlie for taking on the Marathon Mile with such a big heart.”
“We’ve been keeping active together at the Les Quennevais track and doing the parkrun, and Charlie is really looking forward to the event.
“Raising money for Andy’s Man Club means so much to us because it’s in memory of our dear family friend James, who himself supported this charity.
“Supporting this cause feels like the best way we can honour James’ memory.”
Charlie added that he is “looking forward to the run” and is “happy that the money is going to help other people.”
