A DUO who were last year jailed for a 13-year fraud against Jersey Mutual have had more than £650,000 of their criminal proceeds confiscated.

Former general manager of the insurance company Roy Jeanne and Michael Timms, who was a commercial tenant of the firm, were jailed for nine years and four years respectively in January 2024 for a string of dishonesty offences between 2004 and 2017.

They subsequently received a confiscation order in April 2024.

The Law Officers’ Department confirmed yesterday that the order had now been “satisfied in full with the combined amount of £656,193 having been confiscated” and would be paid back to Jersey Mutual.

An additional £10,000 was paid towards the Attorney General’s costs.

Jersey’s Attorney General, Mark Temple KC said: “The substantial confiscation orders made against these defendants ensure that they are prevented from enjoying the criminal benefits they obtained from this complex fraud and money laundering case.

The Law Officers’ Department’s Economic Crime and Confiscation Unit worked closely with the Joint Financial Crimes Unit of the States of Jersey Police and with the Viscount to ensure that the defendants’ realisable assets were identified, restrained and ultimately, fully confiscated.”
