A FISH-AND-CHIP café in St Aubin has gone bust after failing to pay over £20,000 in social security contributions over the last three years.

No one appeared in the Petty Debts Court on behalf of the Seafish Café in relation to the unpaid Social Security contributions yesterday.

The court heard that £21,141.75 was owed for all of 2023 and 2024, and the first two months of 2025.

As a result, the court ordered that the debt be repaid and authorised the seizure and sale of the restaurant’s assets.

The Seafish Café on the Bulwarks opened in 2016 following the success of the branch in Liberty Wharf.

But, according to a notice published in the Jersey Gazette on 12 August, a meeting of the creditors of the company will take place at 1pm on 3 September at Second Floor, De la Poste House, 59 King Street.

During this meeting, a statement of the affairs of the company will be laid before the creditors.

Adrian John Denis Rabet and Clive Fortis of Begbies Traynor are also due to be nominated as joint liquidators of the company.

The former Liberty Wharf branch of the Seafish Café now operates as Catch.
