PLANS for this year’s Gorey Fête are being finalised as organisers once again hope to draw Islanders out east next month for a day of games, music and entertainment.
Promoted as “a highlight of the Jersey summer”, the event is set to take place on Friday 15 August.
Lester Richardson, who chairs the Gorey Fête and St Martin Bonfire Committee, told the JEP on Monday that “things are on the move”, with organisers meeting to finalise plans.
Reflecting on last year’s Fête, Mr Richardson recalled that “there was a lot of drizzle during the day”, noting that this may have impacted turnout before the weather improved in the evening.
This year’s event will support local charities Brightly, Music in Action and Jersey Friends of Anthony Nolan.
Writing on their Facebook page, organisers described the Fête as “summer vibes, great food, live music, games and loads of fun for all ages”.
“Whether you come for the entertainment, the community spirit, or just to soak up the atmosphere, it’s always a highlight of the Jersey summer,” they added.
“A big thanks to Jersey Mutual for supporting this fantastic event.”
