PART of Queen’s Valley reservoir – that has been closed for months due to a rat infestation – is due to reopen today.

Jersey Water said that rodent numbers had “significantly reduced” and that the situation was now “more under control”.

However, the utility company has reminded Islanders not to feed wildlife at the site, explaining that a small number of visitors “persistently” doing so had caused the rat issue – which had “been a challenge” to resolve.

“Jersey Water is continuing to closely monitor the situation in partnership with other local agencies,” it added.
