ISLANDERS are being invited to a free awareness session exploring the connection between trauma and substance misuse.
Led by Substance Misuse Officer for the Jersey Probation and Aftercare Service Ana Goodwin, the 90-minute event taking place at the Jersey Cheshire Home Community Centre will examine how trauma of any kind can have a lasting impact on people’s lives, and how it is often closely linked with substance misuse.
The session – which forms part of a wider programme of community events hosted by Jersey Cheshire Home – will also signpost local support services and provide helpful information for those affected, whether directly or indirectly.
“We’re really pleased to support events like this by hosting them at the Jersey Cheshire Home Community Centre,” Tony Goodwin, Deputy General Manager of Jersey Cheshire Home, said.
“Raising awareness around issues such as trauma and substance misuse is important, especially when it helps people feel seen, supported and better informed. We’re proud to provide a space for open conversation and access to local expertise.”
The event, which takes place at at 2pm on Tuesday 24 June, is free to attend and open to anyone in the community. Booking is not required.
