CORONATION PARK has been prepped for the summer season with a series of family-friendly upgrades – including a new sound-based bird deterrent, following complaints of seagulls swooping in to snatch snacks.

The government has confirmed the audio system is among several improvements being introduced at the popular St Lawrence park to enhance the visitor experience.

Other updates include newly planted wildflowers and baby trees (or ‘whips’), supported by charity Jersey Trees for Life, as well as upgraded pathways to reduce puddles.

Meanwhile, the monthly changing storyboard trail run by Every Child Our Future is continuing, with officials noting “lots of positive feedback from families”.

A reshuffle of the car park layout has also made space for more vehicles.

Looking ahead, new shade structures and changing rooms are due to be added near the splashpad to help make the area even more inviting for parents and children during the warmer months, the government said.
