FOUR teenagers have been arrested after a Second World War truck was vandalised at St Catherine’s Bunker earlier this week.

Police confirmed on Friday that all four suspects had been released on bail following their arrests.

A fifth individual has also been identified but is not currently being treated as a suspect.

The matter remains under investigation, and nobody else is being sought in relation to this matter, according to the force.

The 80-year-old GMC military truck, which is part of the St Catherine’s Bunker heritage site, was damaged in the early hours of Monday morning.

The site, which is managed by Jersey Bunker Tours in partnership with Jersey Seafaris and Ports of Jersey, once served as a stronghold for German forces during the Occupation.

It is being developed as a historical attraction and was preparing for Liberation 80 commemorations.

Yesterday, Chief of Police Robin Smith said: “I share Islanders’ dismay following the act of vandalism to an important artefact that reminds us all of a crucial period in our history.”

He added: “I’m delighted the Jersey Bunker Tours will be open for Good Friday and recognise all the hard work of the volunteers in getting the historic truck ready for Liberation 80.”
