A 41-YEAR-OLD man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman and urinating on her – and taking pictures of the offences – but acquitted of rape.
Michael John O’Brien was convicted of sexual touching without consent, causing a sexual act without consent, sexual penetration without consent and voyeurism following a four-day trial in the Royal Court.
On Thursday afternoon, a jury of six men and six women found him unanimously guilty of these charges but returned a not guilty verdict on the count of rape.
O’Brien took advantage of the woman while she was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs, the court heard.
During the trial, the prosecution said O’Brien used the victim’s vulnerable state as a “a unique opportunity to assault her”.
