ISLANDERS are being urged to help brighten Easter for women and children affected by domestic abuse by donating eggs or small gifts as part of an appeal led by a department store.
The initiative asks customers to drop off donations at de Gruchy’s concierge desk in the beauty department on the ground floor which they can do until Thursday.
The gifts will then be distributed by domestic violence charity Freeda to families staying in their safe house, as well as to others they support in the community.
Simon Youden, store director at de Gruchy, said: “We are proud to support Freeda in their vital work and this Easter appeal is a simple yet meaningful way for the community to come together and make a difference.
“Every donation, big or small, will help bring a smile to the women and children Freeda supports.”
Freeda chief executive Kate Wright said: “We’re truly grateful to the team at de Gruchy for this wonderful Easter appeal, and to everyone who donates a little something.
“Every egg and gift given will show the women and children we support in escaping domestic abuse and re-building their lives, that they’re not alone over the Easter holiday.”
The campaign is part of the department store’s partnership with Freeda.
