A BOOK sale has raised well over £3,000 for a local charity.

Islanders who visited St Ouen’s Parish Hall over the weekend to purchase second-hand paperback books helped raise a total of £3,794 for the Jersey branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind, organisers have announced.

The money raised from the annual sale will go towards training and partnering guide dogs to support visually impaired Islanders.

Ken Syvret, chairman of the Jersey branch of the charity, thanked all those who donated and purchased books.

Further fundraising book sales will take place in June and October this year.
