Firefighters responding to the incident in St Peter's Valley

TWO Islanders had to be cut out of a car they were trapped in after the vehicle ended up on its side following a collision in St Peter’s Valley on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters removed the windscreen of the car to get the passenger out and cut through the vehicle’s roof to free the driver.

Both were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The northbound section of the road from the Vic in the Valley pub was closed due to the incident but later reopened.
