JERSEY War Tunnels has been sold.

The 1,000-metre underground tunnel complex, which was put on the market with an asking price in excess of £5.5 million in June last year, had been owned by Daisy Hill Real Estates for more than 60 years.

Following “interest from several private buyers”, the site has ultimately gone to Trevellyan Operations, headed by Lance Trevellyan, whose Jersey business portfolio also includes CCA Galleries International.

There will be no changes to staff or day-to-day operations, with the business employing nine permanent employees and 21 seasonal staff.

The 29.5-acre Occupation site, in the heart of St Lawrence, includes a visitor centre and a garden of reflection.

Mr Trevellyan said: “Sadly, as those with first-hand experience of living in occupied Jersey become fewer and fewer, there is a heightened urgency to record the facts of the experiences they endured for the benefit of present and future generations.”
